When it comes to matters of mental health and wellness, there remains an ongoing stigma that seeking therapy is a sign of weakness or something that is more appropriate for women to do. As men, we are socially conditioned to not ask for support, which is one of the many consequences of a society that perpetuates unrealistic ideas that we must remain stoic and strong even in moments of distress. Therapy for men can make a significant impact in your life.

These unrealistic expectations are seen in many ways throughout our culture. The false belief that men should be able to deal with both physical and emotional pain—regardless of the circumstances. As a result, it prevents us from feeling safe and secure enough to explore our true emotions.

After an initial phone screening to determine which of our clinicians is a good fit, you will be matched with a therapist who is best suited to coach you through the process of navigating and understanding your emotions. Our team includes both male and female therapists, and we are happy to try and accommodate any preferences you have for counseling. 

Once a relationship with one of our clinicians is established, you will collaborate with your therapist to develop treatment goals and to work toward individually tailored solutions for the challenges getting in your way. You will also be encouraged to explore and identify any underlying sources of anxiety, depression, and stress that have caused problems in your life.

Moving at your pace, your therapist will work with you to understand how family dynamics, significant events, and any instances of unresolved trauma may be currently affecting you and preventing you from moving forward in life. 

And because we take a holistic approach to counseling men, we will help you understand both the emotional and physical symptoms that are impacting your daily life so that you can have a better grasp of the relationship between your mind and body. In addition to holistic methods and mindfulness techniques, we will use a variety of evidence-based approaches that include behavioral, narrative, and solution-focused therapies to identify and reprocess the negative thought patterns that may be the result of internalized gender expectations.
